Case Study: Meeting the Staffing Needs of a Large Public School District
TalentBridge has been a primary provider of contingent staffing services to one of the largest public school districts in Wisconsin since 2011, filling the district’s dynamic needs for substitute teachers, secretaries, food service associates, children’s health assistants (CHAs), classroom assistants and paraprofessionals.
The Situation
Each day of the school year brings different needs for substitute personnel across the district’s dozens of schools. Demand ranges from emergency fill-ins for employees who are out due to illness to short- and long-term coverage while a position is being filled or for employees who are out for family leave, medical leave or vacation.
The Solution
We have established the systems and processes required to efficiently place hundreds of employees across the district’s schools each day – from learning of the district’s needs to identifying the right person for each job, and then directing that person to where they are needed.
We have built a strong and deep pool of talent who meet pre-hire criteria, and we are constantly recruiting to build that pool. In addition to using robust staffing and recruiting technology, we leverage the Goodwill network by advertising in Goodwill’s retail stores and looking to the Goodwill family of employees and supporters for candidates and referrals. Equally powerful is our strong presence in the district’s community, where we are able to promote positions through local neighborhood centers, churches and other organizations as we search for strong candidates.
And through Goodwill’s mission programs, we offer support, training and development opportunities that prepare employees to work in the district and give them the tools they need to take on more advanced roles.
For example, a new training program certifies participants to work in classrooms as paraprofessionals, expands their career options and helps meet the district’s need to have quality professionals in its classrooms.
The mission alignment between Goodwill and the district has also allowed us to form a true partnership with our client. We share the goals of serving our communities and uplifting people, and we support each other’s initiatives. We are proud of our work with the district and the opportunities it creates for countless area residents.
