Cynthia | How Free Job Search Support at Goodwill Led to Stability
How Goodwill Career Coaching Helped Cynthia Find a Long-Term Job
For months, Cynthia was determined to find stable work with benefits — a job she could grow into and build a future with. But like many job seekers, every step in her job search journey came with obstacles, stress and moments of doubt.
When she connected with the Goodwill Workforce Connection Center, everything changed.
Cynthia received free one-on-one support from Goodwill career coaches who helped her with resume building, computer skills, applications and preparing for interviews. She also found something she wasn’t expecting — encouragement and emotional support.
“No matter how many stressful days she’s had or how many times she’s cried, she always finds peace coming into the center,” says Karen Graham, Manager of Workforce Connection Centers – Wisconsin. “We provided a place for her to receive encouragement.”
With continued guidance and job leads provided by the center, Cynthia gained short-term jobs at Goodwill, a local university and with shipping companies. Each opportunity added skill, confidence and experience. But her goal was still long-term employment.
Eventually, Cynthia landed a temporary position at a local hospital. After completing her 90-day probationary period, she was officially offered permanent, full-time employment — with benefits. The stable career she envisioned became reality.
Her success is a reminder: having the right support system matters. With access to free help finding a job, Cynthia found the tools she needed to stay motivated, stay prepared and keep moving forward.
