Wrapping Up Summer in Style
This month's blog post features tips and trends from @jenrestylefashion, one of Goodwill's 2025 influencer partners. J'en is a Chicago-based restyler of fashion, personal stylist and upcycler.
Thrifted Fashion That Lasts Beyond the Season
Thrifting My Way Through Summer
As summer winds down, I’ve found myself reflecting not only on the season itself, but on the pieces that truly served me — the ones that made me feel confident, cool, and creative. Thanks to Goodwill, my summer wardrobe was built on standout thrifted finds that were both stylish and budget-friendly. Whether it was a linen two-piece set, a bold printed skirt, or a structured blazer, every item I found added value to my closet without emptying my wallet.
Stretching Your Wardrobe with Style
This summer, my Goodwill hauls were focused on versatility. I looked for pieces that I could mix and match — not just wear once. It’s easy to get swept up in seasonal trends, but I always ask myself: Can I wear this multiple ways? Can I layer it? Will I love it next year? That mindset helps me build a wardrobe that works year-round, and it’s something I encourage all my followers to embrace.
From Summer to Fall: Transitioning with Intention
With cooler temps on the horizon, this is the ideal time to think about how your summer favorites can carry you into fall. Lightweight dresses can be layered under denim jackets. Bold printed tops can be worn with jeans and boots. Even flowy skirts can be paired with a fitted sweater and a belt. My recent finds from Goodwill’s Washington Boulevard Store and donation Center — which just got a beautiful remodel — included pieces perfect for layering as we head into the new season.
How to Find Your Personal Style Through Thrifting
One of the most common questions I get is: How do I find my personal style? Thrifting is actually one of the best ways to figure that out. Since you’re not limited to what’s trending or what’s currently in stores, you get to explore a wide range of decades, colors, silhouettes, and fabrics. I always recommend starting with what makes you feel good. Look at what you’ve worn the most this season and ask yourself why. That’s your style speaking.
Thrifting With Purpose, Not Pressure
You don’t need a closet full of clothes to be stylish. You need a closet full of pieces that work. That’s why I’m passionate about helping women thrift with intention — making smart choices that align with their lifestyle, body, and goals. I want my audience to walk away from every haul or styling video knowing they can do more with less and still look amazing.
Let’s Keep Building Together
As we move into fall, I’ll continue sharing how to shop smart, style creatively, and build a wardrobe that works as hard as you do. Goodwill has been such a valuable partner in that mission — not just providing quality secondhand pieces, but helping me show others that fashion can be accessible, sustainable, and personal.
So whether you’re layering up, clearing out, or just starting your style journey — I’ve got you.
