Jamie | Helping Employees Reach Their Potential
Store Manager Helps Co-Workers Achieve their Goals
At Goodwill, employees find work-life balance, a sense of fulfillment from contributing to the mission and an opportunity to grow their career. Those reasons appealed to Jamie – a single mom who wanted a flexible job that allows her to spend time with her daughter while also building a career.
After working at Goodwill for two years, Jamie started on Goodwill’s Retail Career Path program and was promoted to assistant store manager a year later. After working at seven Goodwill Store & Donation Centers, Jamie is a wealth of knowledge – from helping lead efforts in opening the Mukwonago location to supporting new employees as they start their career journeys at Goodwill. She continued her own journey and was promoted to store manager in 2024.
“I am most proud of completing the Retail Career Path program and helping others to do the same. I have had the opportunity to coach and work with several people who have completed the program and have been promoted,” Jamie shares.
In Jamie’s role as store manager, she actively engages in the community by sharing Goodwill’s mission in action to businesses and community members. “Often, people don’t realize how much Goodwill does for the community and are interested in learning more.”
Throughout her journey, Jamie has provided positive impact by helping shoppers find the perfect outfit for a job interview, supporting employees as they work through challenges by connecting them to Goodwill’s Employee Empowerment Network and fostering a positive environment within the store and donation center.
“Understanding the mission and what Goodwill does for people and the community has changed my perspective [on life]. I am proud to work for an organization that helps people in need and people who want to work.”
How Retail Stores Support Goodwill's Mission
All our business operations, including our Goodwill Store & Donation Centers, support our mission in two ways: through the revenue they generate and the job opportunities they create.
