OFFICIAL GOODWILL CONTEST TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. CONTEST PERIOD. Goodwill Thrift Studio presents: The Haunted Runway (“Contest”) takes place between September 14, 2026 – October 24, 2026.
2. SPONSOR. The Contest is sponsored by Goodwill Retail Services Inc. (the “Sponsor”) with its principal place of business at 6055 N. 91st Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53225.
3. CONTEST DESCRIPTION 
a. The Goodwill Thrift Studio presents: The Haunted Runway costume contest is a Halloween costume contest held in conjunction with the Arts in the Dark parade, which takes place on October 24, 2026 in Chicago. There are two phases to the contest.
1. Phase 1: September 14 – October 5, 2026
2. Entrants will apply for the opportunity to participate in the contest at https://bit.ly/TheHauntedRunway2026 
3. During the Voting Period, eligible entries will be displayed at https://bit.ly/TheHauntedRunway2026 for public voting. 
4. Contestants will compete to get votes for their entry 
5. At the end of the Voting Period, up to five (5) entrants with the highest number of valid, verified votes (subject to eligibility and tie breaker below) will be deemed “Finalists.” TIE BREAKER (if needed): Sponsor will apply a panel review based on costume creativity and overall presentation (1–5 scale).
6. Contestants may use the link provided during entry to promote voting. 
7. Contestants may tag @goodwillgreatermc when promoting voting.  
8. The top 5 vote-getters (Finalists) will have the opportunity to participate in Phase 2 
b. Phase 2 (October 24, 2025) 
1. The 5 finalists will travel the Arts in the Dark parade route starting at approximately 5:30 CST, approximately ½ hour before the start of the Arts in the Dark parade.
2. Finalists will have the opportunity to engage with parade goers along the Arts in the Dark route before the parade begins to encourage votes among parade attendees 
3. Finalists will be accompanied on the parade by an emcee or announcer to be provided by the event sponsors.
4. Finalists will be contacted using the e-mail provided upon entry on 10/7/26 and must respond to provide a postal mailing address and confirm their participation in the Arts in the Dark parade by 5:00 p.m. CST on 10/12/26. If a potential winner is ineligible, unreachable, or fails to timely respond, Sponsor may select an alternate.
5. Potential winners must complete and return any required documentation (e.g., Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability/Publicity Release, or other) within 2 days, or prize may be forfeited. If a potential winner is ineligible, unreachable, or fails to timely respond, Sponsor may select an alternate.
c. Method of Entry
1. During the Promotion Period, visit the contest landing page at https://bit.ly/TheHauntedRunway2026 and follow the instructions to (a) complete required fields and (b) upload one (1) photo of your costume that meets the Submission Requirements below. 
2. LIMIT: One (1) entry per individual or group. Entries may be submitted by an individual or by a group consisting of up to three (3) individuals (a "Group Entry"). A Group Entry shall be treated as a single entry and a single participant for all purposes of the Contest, including eligibility, finalist selection, voting, judging, and prize awards. No individual may participate in more than one entry.
3. For Group Entries, one individual must be designated as the primary contact and will be responsible for communications with Sponsor and acceptance of any prize awarded. Sponsor shall have no responsibility for allocating, dividing, or distributing any prize among members of a Group Entry.


4. CONTEST RULES
a. Costumes must be handmade, with less than 50% of the costume consisting of a purchased item used in its original format 
b. Your entry must be your original work; do not include third party content (e.g., logos, or likenesses) without permission. Entries must not be unlawful, harmful, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, or otherwise objectionable. Sponsor may disqualify entries that do not comply.
c. Participation in the Arts in the Dark parade on October 24, 2026 is a material condition of eligibility to receive any prize. Any finalist, whether an individual entrant or Group Entry, that fails to appear, participate, or complete the parade route as required by Sponsor for any reason, including illness, travel issues, scheduling conflicts, voluntary withdrawal, or any other circumstance, shall be disqualified and shall forfeit any and all rights to receive a prize. Sponsor reserves the right to select an alternate finalist or withhold the prize in its sole discretion.
d. Participants in the contest must be capable of travelling the designated parade route by foot. However, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), reasonable accommodations will be provided to ensure equitable participation. 
1. Accommodation requests must be submitted to Sponsor by 10/14/26 to receive an accommodation for the Arts in the Dark parade on 10/24/26.
2. Requests will be subject to approval by Sponsor and accommodations will be permitted provided they do not pose a legitimate safety hazard or fundamentally alter the nature of the event.
3. Devices such as commercially available other power-driven mobility devices (OPDMD) – including rental scooters, segways, or similar – are not permitted unless specifically approved by Sponsor.
5. CONTEST PRIZE.
a. All prizes are awarded on a per-entry basis and not on a per-person basis. An entry submitted by a Group Entry shall be eligible to receive only one (1) prize, which shall be the same prize available to an individual entrant. No additional prize, cash payment, gift card, or other consideration will be awarded based on the number of individuals included in a Group Entry. Any allocation or division of a prize among members of a Group Entry shall be solely the responsibility of the members of that Group Entry. Sponsor shall have no responsibility for resolving disputes relating to the ownership, division, or distribution of any prize among group members.
b. Grand prize winner and runner-up finalists will be contacted on 10/27/26, using a valid e-mail provided upon entry. Emails must be free of typos and legible to ensure communication is sent to the correct participants.
c. Grand prize: The finalist receiving the most live attendee votes on the night of October 24, 2026 will receive:
1. One $250 Goodwill Gift card, redeemable at any Goodwill Industries of SEW store located in the following counties - Wisconsin: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Fond du Lac, Rock, Dodge, Walworth, Washington, Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Green Lake, Jefferson, Racine & Kenosha; and Illinois: Lake, DuPage, Cook, Kane, Iroquois, Kankakee, Ford, Vermilion, Kendall & Will.
2. VIP tent seating for four (4) at the 2026 Arts in the Dark parade. 
d. Runner-up prizes: The four runner-up finalists will receive a $100 Goodwill Gift card, redeemable at any Goodwill Industries of SEW store located in the following counties - Wisconsin: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Fond du Lac, Rock, Dodge, Walworth, Washington, Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Green Lake, Jefferson, Racine & Kenosha; and Illinois: Lake, DuPage, Cook, Kane, Iroquois, Kankakee, Ford, Vermilion, Kendall & Will.
e. Goodwill gift cards are only valid at participating Goodwill Retail Services, Inc. store and donation centers in greater Milwaukee and Chicago located in Wisconsin Counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Fond du Lac, Rock, Dodge, Walworth, Washington, Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Green Lake, Jefferson, Racine & Kenosha; and Illinois Counties: Lake, DuPage, Cook, Kane, Iroquois, Kankakee, Ford, Vermilion, Kendall & Will. This Contest prize is not valid at Goodwill Outlet Stores in Wisconsin or Illinois, or online at ShopGoodwill, or any other alternative e-commerce channels maintained by Goodwill. Void where prohibited by law. All applicable federal, state, and local laws apply.
6. AGREEMENT TO OFFICIAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS. By participating in the contest, each participant accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these terms and conditions and the decisions of the Sponsor, which shall be final and binding in all respects. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency between these Official Terms and Conditions and any advertisement, promotional or marketing materials, or other announcements relating to the Contest, these Official Terms and Conditions govern. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest at any time. Sponsor may amend these Official Terms and Conditions by posting such amended Terms and Conditions on www.goodwillgreatermc.org.
7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY/DISCLAIMERS: BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS CONTEST, ALL PARTICIPANTS AGREE TO FOREVER WAIVE, RELEASE, DISCHARGE, AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE SPONSOR, AS WELL AS SPONSOR’S OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, ATTORNEYS, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, SHAREHOLDERS, CONTRACTORS, SUCCESSORS, ASSIGNS AND INSURERS (COLLECTIVELY “RELEASED PARTIES”) FOR AND FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEBTS, LIABILITIES, DEMANDS, OBLIGATIONS, COSTS, FEES, EXPENSES, ACTIONS, CAUSES OF ACTION WHATSOEVER, OF EVERY NATURE, CHARACTER AND DESCRIPTION (COLLECTIVE, “CLAIMS”), KNOWN AND UNKNOWN, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ALL THOSE ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY RELATED TO THIS CONTEST; THESE OFFICIAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS; ENTRANT’S PARTICIPATION; THE NEGLIGENCE OF ANY OF THE RELEASED PARTIES; THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, MISUSE OR USE OF ANY GIFT WITH PURCHASE; AND ANY PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST. IN ADDITION, EACH ENTRANT ACKNOWLEDGES AND AGREES THAT THE RELEASED PARTIES ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY COSTS, INJURIES, LOSSES, OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING FROM OR IN CONNECTION WITH: (I) INCOMPLETE, LOST, LATE, MISDIRECTED OR ILLEGIBLE CONTACT OR DATABASE INFORMATION OR FOR FAILURE TO RECEIVE THE CONTEST DUE TO ANY CAUSE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, HUMAN, TRANSMISSION, OR TECHNICAL PROBLEMS, FAILURES, OR MALFUNCTIONS OF ANY KIND, WHETHER ORIGINATING WITH SENDER OR OTHERWISE, THAT MAY LIMIT AN ENTRANT’S ABILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS LIMITED TIME CONTEST; OR (II) ANY INJURY OR DAMAGE RESULTING FROM PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST AND/OR THE USE OR MISUSE OF ANY GIFT WITH PURCHASE (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, CLAIMS, COSTS, INJURIES, LOSSES AND DAMAGES RELATED TO PERSONAL INJURIES, DEATH, DAMAGE TO, LOSS OR DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, OR ANY CLAIMS, COSTS, INJURIES, LOSSES, OR DAMAGES RELATED TO OR BASED ON THE ENTRANT’S RIGHTS OF PUBLICITY OR PRIVACY, OR THE PARTICIPANT’S CLAIM THAT HE OR SHE HAS SOMEHOW BEEN DEFAMED OR PORTRAYED IN A FALSE LIGHT.)


BY PARTICIPATING, PARTICIPANT REPRESENTS AND WARRANTS THAT HE OR SHE OWNS AND/OR HAS THE AUTHORITY TO RELEASE THE CLAIMS STATED HEREIN. FURTHER, BY PARTICIPATING OR ACCEPTING THE CONTEST PRIZE ALL PARTICIPANTS EXPRESSLY AGREE TO AT ALL TIMES DEFEND, HOLD HARMLESS, AND INDEMNIFY THE RELEASED PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ALL CLAIMS OF ANY KIND OR NATURE WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING REASONABLE ATTORNEYS’ FEES AND DISBURSEMENTS) ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY RELATED TO THIS CONTEST; THESE OFFICIAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS; PARTICIPANTS QUALIFYING; THE NEGLIGENCE OF ANY OF THE RELEASED PARTIES; THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, MISUSE OR USE OF ANY CONTEST PRIZE; AND ANY PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST.
8. PUBLICITY RELEASE: By participating in this Contest, each participant irrevocably grants the Released Parties the right to use each such participant’s name, photograph, image, video, biographical information, in any and all media for any purpose, including, without limitation, advertising and promotional purposes and each entrant hereby releases the Released Parties from any liability with respect thereto, except where prohibited.
9. GOVERNING LAW. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these offer terms and conditions or the rights and obligations of the participants, sponsor or released parties in connection with the Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other state’s laws.
10. ADDITIONAL DISCLAIMERS. If this Contest is not capable of running as planned for any reason, including, without limitation, because of a printing error, human error, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure or other cause which corrupt or threaten to corrupt or adversely affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend this Contest, including awarding Goodwill Perks Plus Loyalty points with purchase from in store registrations or online submissions received prior to the time of the cancellation, modification or suspension. All participants, as a condition of entry, agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Terms and Conditions and the decisions of Sponsor. Failure to comply with these Official Terms and Conditions may result in disqualification from this Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to permanently disqualify any person it believes has violated these Official Terms and Conditions. Participants further agree to not knowingly damage or cause interruption of this Contest. Any person who supplies false information, obtains the contest prize by fraudulent means, or is otherwise determined to be in violation of these official terms and conditions in an attempt to obtain any Contest prize will forfeit any gift with purchase and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
