Free Job Search Helps Natasha meet her Career Goals
Natasha came to the Goodwill Workforce Connection Center in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood determined to find a job that would build a better future for herself and her three children.
Career advisors provide tools for job hunting success
Goodwill Workforce Connection Center staff rallied behind Natasha. Our career coaches supported her in overcoming employment barriers related to justice-system involvement and helped with access to transportation and technology.
A personal case manager provided one-on-one career counseling and helped Natasha with goal setting. Her first step was completing her phlebotomy certification so she could achieve her goal of working as a lead phlebotomist.
To help Natasha find a job, career counselors provided free resume help, showed her how to prepare for a job interview, and provided career coach services including time management and managing emotions in the workplace. They helped her get the documentation needed to work in the medical field and after receiving her certification, helped her apply for phlebotomy jobs.
After only two months of career services, Natasha met her goal, landing a full-time job as a lead phlebotomist with a local facility. The Workforce Connection Center also helped Natasha focus on successfully starting and maintaining her new job, by helping her with transportation, uniforms and continued supportive services.
